The BBGen comes presented in a silver presentation tin, with the Transformer, Open Deck and spare O-Rings.
Design and Build Quality
Machined out of stainless steel, the BBGen boasts flawless build quality, with threading that is as smooth as anything else out there. Having owned products from both modders in the past, I didn’t expect any less!
The BBGen itself is actually comprised of the Transformer bridge by Sturm, and the Nextiny/Nextasis open deck. If you already own a open deck (or the closed deck), you can purchase the Transformer by itself.
After building on the open deck, this is inserted into the base of the Boro in your Billet Box, the chimney section of the Transformer is then installed through the top followed by the drip tip and airflow control section.
The drip tip on the Transformer is fixed and cannot be removed, so you are unable to use your own drip tips. It features a fairly wide bore, suited for a looser draw.
Building the BBGen
As the BBGen uses the same deck I have encountered on the Nextiny, I found that building on this was second nature. I cut off a strip of #300 mesh measuring 13x30mm, and made sure that I gave it a good torching to oxidise it.
Next up, I attached the deck to my GP Paps V4 mechanical mod, inserted my mesh wick into the central wicking post, and threaded a length of 0.3mm kanthal through the top nut. Using a mech tube to wind my wire makes it easier to get even spacing with my coil.
Looping the wire around the negative screw is made easy thanks to the cut outs on the deck, and you must ensure that the wire is pulled tight around the screw and the screw is tightened down fully.
Once I had completed these steps I attached the deck to my VZone Cultura 100W, set the wattage to 10W, and checked for hot spots, adjusting my build as necessary. Once satisfied, it was time to vape!
A top airflow system is used with the BBGen, which can be adjusted by rotating the airflow control located at the drip tip. Airflow can be adjusted from a mouth to lung hit, up to a restricted lung hit.
One thing that struck me almost immediately was just how smooth and quiet the vape was from the BBGen, there’s little to no noise at all when vaping it!
The flavour is absolutely excellent, the Nextiny is still one of my all time favourite atomisers and the vape from the BBGen is not far off the one experienced on the Nextiny! Wicking is superb with the open deck too, with dry hits a complete rarity.
One of the plus points of using mesh is that once you have a build in place, you can use the same build for many months before needing to rebuild. A quick dry burn every couple of days will keep it lasting a long time!
In my opinion, the BBGen is fantastic for tobacco and fruit based E-Liquids, I have always found that mesh brings out the best in these liquids, and the BBGen does a fantastic job here!
In my opinion, the BBGen is the best option out there if you are looking for a mesh bridge for your Billet Box. The build quality is absolutely first class, it’s easy to build and install, and it offers the best vape that I have experienced yet from a mesh focused Billet Box atomiser!
